Jammu, Nov 18: Army authorities have suggested to other security and intelligence agencies to poll all their information and plans required for preventing militants from carrying out gun and grenade attacks within the civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
In fact the Unified Headquarters are said to have advised top functionaries of the Army,the paramilitary forces,the state police and intelligence agencies to coordinate their efforts needed to upgrade the security grid against attempts being made by militants at kicking up incidents of subversive violence.
These instructions have been issued to various formations of security and intelligence agencies after two grenade attacks on liquor shops, on in Srinagar and the other in Jammu in which two people were killed and eight others wounded.
The security agencies fear that the rate of gun and grenade attacks by the militants may witness an upward curve during the winter months.
In order to have teeth for carrying out gun and grenade attacks on vital Government installations security pickets and convoys agencies across the LOC were aiming at providing added assistance to militants, brought on the launch pads across the LOC and the IB, to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir.
At the same time senior Army functionaries have ruled out the possibility of Al Qaeda setting up its based in Jammu and Kashmir.
In this connection troops, guarding the LOC and the IB,have been given clear cut instructions to ensure that not a single activist belonging to the Al Qaeda or any Taliban was able to cross into Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that anti-infiltration measures were being further strengthened after top Al Qaeda leaders had dropped a hint about their plan to set up bases in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, reports said that in case the security scenario, which was quite normal at present in Jammu and Kashmir, showed any deterioration those companies of paramilitary forces,that had been sent on poll duty in Gujarat, would be redeployed in Jammu and Kashmir.And if the situation demanded additional companies of troops could be deployed on the LOC and the IB for plugging all ingress routes. |
