| Surrendered militant including 16 suspects lifted for questioning, DGP visits site | | | Sumit Sharma
JAMMU, Nov 18: A day after the explosion outside Munish Wine Shop at Narwal Bala, Police today swung into action and lifted about 16 suspects including a surrendered militant from Bathindi area for interrogation.
Police sources said that a list of history sheeters and surrendered militants was prepared and accordingly some suspects were lifted for interrogation. Police is also scrutinizing the call details of the lifted suspects to reach on some conclusion. Police sources further said that investigation is being done on three points which included rivalry, mischief act and militant terror strike.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police Ashok Prasad visited the blast site and accessed the situation. He was accompanied by IGP Jammu Dilbag Singh, DIG Jammu-Kathua range JP Singh, SSP Jammu and other police officers.
Earlier, in the day, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, and Minister for Medical Education RS Chib visited Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, and enquired about the health of the injured. District Development Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, accompanied the Minister.
Bhalla directed the GMC to provide best medicare to the injured for their early recovery.
During his visit, Bhalla also distributed interim relief amounting Rs. 10,000 each among seven Narwal blast injured besides Rs. 1 lakh to the family of deceased Kuldeep Raj son of Rakhu Ram of Chowki Choura.
Meanwhile, reacting sharply to the blast, Mulkh Raj Saini, ex president JK Wine Traders Association while addressing a press conference termed it as a security lapse and held police responsible for the incident.
He said that the incident speaks volume of police awareness in militancy infested state where some militants hurled grenade and slipped from the spot. He further said that had the grenade blasted in the shop the casualties of poor could be varied. He demanded immediate police protection to wine shops.
Pertinently, suspected militants on Saturday evening hurled a grenade at a wine shop in Narwal area in the winter capital, killing one person and injuring five others, the second attack on a liquor outlet in Jammu and Kashmir within a week. |
