| Militants may infiltrate taking advantage of fog on LoC | | | Jammu, Dec 25: After failing in their attempts to infiltrate from across the International Border and Line of Control, militant handlers have directed the heavily armed groups to take advantage of dense foggy conditions and wild growth of bushes before intruding inside the border. Official sources said that heavily armed militants camping close to the border have been asked to take advantage of the fog that has enveloped the entire Indo-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir. "Since the density of fog was going to increase in the coming days militants are likely to try to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir. Already troops and the men of the BSF have been equipped with anti-fog devices but the number of these devices was too meagre to serve the purpose," sources said. "More such devices were being made available to the troops shortly." They said that a number of other rebel groups were waiting across Kupwara, Keran, Gurez and Machel sectors to infiltrate into the valley. The sources said that the agencies across the border have given the task of triggering subversive violence on a large scale. It is in the context of this development that the security forces, besides the police deployed within the state, and the troops guarding the LOC and the IB have been directed to further upgrade the security apparatus to prevent militants from crossing into Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said that the Lashkar-e-Toiba handlers besides those heading Hizbul Mujahideen have been told to carry out recruitment of boys in their outfits belonging to Jammu and Kashmir so that they could be used as guides and over-ground workers for carrying out acts of violence in the state. |
