Jammu Observes Coldest Day; Dense fog affects Rail traffic

Jammu, Dec 26: Jammu has observed the coldest day of this session and the dense fog in the winter capital of the state for the second day has disrupted Rail traffic on Wednesday. Trains were running late by one to 10 hours at Jammu Tawi Railway Station.
Train number 12413, All Jat Express (Pooja Express) whose arrival time at the Jammu Tawi is 08:10 am was running late by more than ten hours and reached Jammu Tawi at 06:30pm, the tran is expected to depart from Jammu at 1 am. While almost all the trains were running late by one to 10 hours.
Jammu Tawi Railway Station has daily traffic of 25-30 trains to and fro, and most of the passengers have came for Vaishno Devi and some from the Army, pilgrims and the security personals were worst effected of disrupted rail traffic due to dense fog.
"We came here to pay obeisance hat Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and we have room booked at Bhawan for tonight, but we won't be able to reach there by tomorrow morning," Sham Tiwari, a Pilgrim from Jaipur. An army Jawan from Ajmer has missed his reporting time at Nagrota, "I had to Report Nagrota by 12 noon, but due to the late train, I am late by 7-8 hours."
Meanwhile Jammu residents have experience extreme cold day with fog enveloping the winter capital and general visibility falling to less than 1 km. The Weathermen has declared it as the coldest day of the session and the Minimum temperature dropped upto 7.9 and the Maximum temperature was recorded as 13.9 degree Celsius.
However the weather in the mountainous districts was mainly dry. The weathermen have forecasts, "Rain/snow whould occur at isolated places over the state."
"The weather will be mainly dry in the plains, the fog and dry weather will continue till Dec 27 evening," said Official of Met Department.
