| Ex Colonel's servant held for setting house on fire | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 25: Police today claimed to have arrested the domestic helper of ex army Colonel in the incident of fire which took place on Dec 3 at the residence of his employer namely Subash Chander. A case under section 436 has been registered against him. The accused has been identified as Vishal Verma son of Sikander Lal of Maranmandriya, Akhnoor who allegedly has set the house of his employer in a fit of rage and showed his innocence claiming some miscreants beat him and also set the house on fire. Police said that after his arrest the accused confessed his crime and revealed that the wife of army officer often rebuked him and on December 3 when the entire family was outside, he in a fit of rage to take revenge put the house on fire. The fire was so intense that firefighters impressed into service to douse the flames took three hours to control the fire. Earlier, in his police statement, the domestic help alleged that some unidentified miscreants barged into the house of one retired army official and after beating him, set the house on fire situated in Apna Vihar locality situated under the jurisdiction of Gangyal police station.
