| Brutalities against women must be everybody's concern: Tarigami | | "Govt must fulfill its commitments to teachers" | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Dec 25: Addressing teachers conference organized by United School Teachers Association (USTA)at Kathua today, CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said the emotional outrage at national level against the gang rape of a woman is quite justifiable and these brutal crimes can be stopped only if the govt is forced to act firmly against the perpertrators of such heinous crimes. Referring to the demands of the teachers and the problems being faced by them, he said, "Poor salaries, limited growth opportunities and lower job satisfaction level compared to what are available in the private and corporate sectors are keeping top talents out of teaching profession," Terming teachers as the builders of the future of our society, he said this community can shape our future only by sharing its responsibilities and educating and guiding the younger generation .Hence it is the primary responsibility of the government to safeguard and protect the genuine interests of this section of these people and shun its attitude of irresponseness towards this sensitive section of our society for that not words but action on the ground can remove dissatisfaction prevailing among them. It must immediately concede the demands like increase in honorarium of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers and remove pay anomalies, open up promotional avenues and ensure and evolve a transparent transfer policy. Sham Prasad Kesar, Senior leader of CPI(M) while addressing the conference called for broader unity among teachers. He blamed neo-liberal policies of the government which are adversely affecting the interests of this community. |
