early times report KATHUA, Dec 25: District Cricket Association (DCA) Ludhiana today registered a fine four-wicket win over star-studded side of Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) to advance in the ongoing 3rd Police Martyrs' Twenty20 Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium, here. Batting first after winning the toss, JCC set a target of 141 runs for the loss of six wickets, which, in reply, the young side of DCA Ludhiana chased in 19.5 overs with four wickets in hand. Needing two runs in as many deliveries, Deepak of DCA hit a boundary to help his side emerge winners. Vimarsh Kaw remained top scorer from JCC with 57 runs while Dhruv Mahajan contributed 14. From Ludhiana, Deepak took three wickets, followed by Bharat, who bagged two wickets. Later, chasing the target, DCA Ludhiana played confident innings and attained the goal in 19.5 overs for the loss of six wickets. Four of Ludhiana batsmen were run out. Anil Siag and Sunny Pandey were main scorers with 30 and 34 runs in their respective accounts. Deepak, added unbeaten 21-ball 32 runs. For his all-round performance, Deepak was adjudged man of the match. He was presented the trophy by SSP Kathua, Atul Kumar Goel. Earlier, the first match of the day was abandoned due to dense fog. Sunderbani Club, who was playing against Amritsar Sports Club, appealed for bad light in the sixth over of their innings which was accepted by the umpires. Now, the match will be replayed. |
