early times report
JAMMU Dec 25: The poor visibility due to foggy weather shattered the Himachal dream of a possible win against Jammu and Kashmir after the visitors were just 45 runs away from the 235 runs target when the match was stopped by the umpires on the last day of the Group-C Ranji Trophy tie at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
However, the visitors got higher three points as against one in favour of J&K after around 105 minutes of play could not take place due to bad weather.
In the morning, Himachal were reluctant to begin their play amidst foggy weather conditions resulting into loss of complete pre-lunch session. However, when game resumed after lunch, the visitors played well and brought the total to 189 runs for the loss of two wickets in 49 overs at tea. But, to their dismay, the game could not resume thereafter because of poor visibility.
Himachal could have won the game had the bad light not played foul play after tea. However, both the teams wait for the visibility to improve for an hour and 45 minute.
It was at 5.5 pm that umpires called off the play declaring it a drawn game. With the drawn game, Himachal got three points while J&K secured just one. Earlier, both Akash Chopra and Karanveer played confident innings.
Akash lost his wicket at a score of 50 (off 80 balls) while Karanveer remained unbeaten at 88. P Dogra was other unbeaten batsman with 43 runs in his account.
