| Income Tax Officer encroaches irrigation canal | | Court orders violated, Administration turns blind eye | | early times report Srinagar, Dec 26: The district administration Budgam particularly the officials of the Revenue Department are under scanner for allowing illegal construction of a house on irrigation canal at Wathoora Shahpora in Central Kashmir's Budgam district. As per reports, an influential Income Tax Officer purchased the land in the area early this year for more than a Crore of rupees and now the said officer is constructing a residential building at the site by encroaching the Irrigation Canal locally known as "Thalan Kul ". The local Zamindaran Committee along with Sarpanch Mohammad Ameen Qadri approached the Deputy Commissioner Budgam who in his order vide letter No: DCB /ACR/PA/12/170 Dated 20.12.2012 directed the Tehsildar Chadoora to take necessary action against the encroacher by stopping the work. The DC's letter reads : "You are directed to look into the matter and take necessary steps to stop the ongoing encroachment on spot under law and also furnish action taken report to this office within a fortnight". |
