| ‘Omar does not trust Congress Ministers’ | | Summoning NC Ministers to Valley | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: Calling National Conference (NC) Ministers to valley to assess the situation at district headquarters, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has conveyed that he does not trust the Congress ministers. The Government had to clamp curfew across Kashmir following Afzal Guru's hanging. The protests held at several places are reminiscent of the 2010 agitation and a desperate Omar has been trying to restore order. However, he has summoned only NC Ministers to the Valley to assist him. This, according to political circles has conveyed a message that Omar does not trust Congress Ministers especially for addressing security related issues. The Chief Minister tried his best to put the onus on Central Government in a damage control exercise which irked Congress leaders and Ministers as well in Jammu and Kashmir. Reacting to this few Congress men even questioned Omar and his party on their statements. Omar without making much noise on Congress leaders' attack, summoned his Ministers to Valley and urged them to remain present at district headquarters to reach the people and continuously monitor the situation. The NC working president knows that Guru's hanging has affected his political future ad has put a question mark on his future programmes of regaining the power. By remaining present in the Valley, he expects people to question the stand of Congress and other parties over Guru hanging. This is perhaps the reason that he is keeping Congress ministers at bay. Political circles believe Omar is offering an olive branch to people to score points. Interestingly Omar forgot his trusted friend Rahul Gandhi who helped him stay in power for a full term. Omar has once again proved that when it comes to attain power or retain chair, he behaves like a typical NC man. |
