| EU interfering in the internal affairs of India | | Guru's Execution | | Rustam Jammu, Feb 13: The European Union yesterday crossed the line and interfered in the internal affairs of India by making a negative and provocative statement on the February 9 execution of Afzal Guru, Parliament terror attack case convict in Tihar Jail, Delhi. "While recognizing that terrible murders were committed at the heart of this case and aware of the suffering of the victims and their families, the EU reiterates its principled opposition to the death penalty under all circumstances and calls on India to re-establish a moratorium on executions, in line with the global trend towards the abolition of capital punishment," the EU's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, said in a statement at Brussels. She did say that European block continues to "support India in the fight against terrorism and look forward to continuing to work together in this area," but denounced the hanging of Guru, saying the European block was firmly opposed to the "death penalty, irrespective of the seriousness of the crimes committed by the convicted prisoners". The European Union has not only interfered in the internal affairs of India by denouncing the Guru's hanging, but it in a way extended its helping hand to the terrorists, including Kashmiri separatists and fanatics, who have been carrying on a relentless hate and break-India campaign since decades and seeking to establish an independent Islamic State. The European Union also in a way strengthened the hands of Pakistan which has been using terrorists like LeT chief Hafiz Saeed, involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, 13/12 Parliament terror attack and several other attacks, including the January 8, 2013 attack in the Mendhar sector which culminated in the execution of two Indian soldiers and their decapitation and its Kashmir-based operatives like APHC-M chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, APHC-G chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani, JKLF chairman Yasin Malik and so on to dismember India and annex Jammu and Kashmir. All right thinking people in India would condemn the irresponsible and provocative statement that was made by Catherine Ashton. India is an independent and sovereign nation. It is its fundamental duty to not only defend and promote further its territorial integrity and secure its borders, but also to nab, book and bring to justice all those who dare to work against the institution of State established over the period after making supreme sacrifices. The European Union should remember that the problem in Kashmir is communal and the Pakistan's claim over Jammu and Kashmir is based on its dangerous belief in the pernicious and archaic two-nation theory that had not only resulted in the communal partition of India in 1947 but also resulted in loot, rape, murder and displacement of population on an unprecedented scale. No nation with a democratic and secular outlook would ever appreciate the states like Pakistan and its dreaded agents in Kashmir and elsewhere in India who have been perpetrating terror and trying their level best to provoke communal passions in the country to achieve their nefarious goal. New Delhi must take a serious note of the European Union's unwarranted interference in the internal affairs of India and tell it and the international community that it will act in the best interest of India and take all possible steps to eradicate the scourge of terrorism in accordance with the laid down laws. New Delhi just cannot afford any kind of interference by any country in its internal affairs. It has to behave like China, Israel, United States, Great Britain and similar other countries behave. This is what the nation wants New Delhi. |
