MIER celebrates Foundation Day

Jammu, Feb 13: To commemorate the completion of 77 glorious years of dedicated service in the field of education, Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) today celebrated its Foundation Day. An impressive and colourful function was organized by the institute at its B.C. Road campus on this occasion. The chief guest on the occasion was B.R. Kundal Former Chief Secretary and Member Legislative Council J&K State. Other luminaries who graced the occasion were the members of the Board of Directors, high-ranking officials, social activists, prominent citizensand large number of parents of the students of various wings of the institute.
Dr. Arun K. Gupta formally welcomed the Chief Guest and described him as a son of the soil who is a true leader of the masses of Jammu and Kashmir State and is all set to bring significant changes in the future policy matters of the state. He also expressed gratitude to the public and parents for giving full support to MIER for the last over seven decades in the achievement of its noble educational objectives. He further thanked the government, university and Board authorities for reposing confidence in the programmes offered by the institute.
An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of Hum-ming Buds, both branches of Model Academy and MIER College of Education. The cultural Programme commenced with a tribute to the Goddess of Knowledge in the form of a Saras-watiVandana which mesmerized the audience. The little angels of Humming Buds performed on the famous dance number 'I got to Move it Move it' and their favourite nursery rhymes. The school students presented skits, dance performances on various themes along with a unique item of Sur Sarita which was a vocal cum instrumental performance by the school students learning various musical instruments.A fusion dance by the B.Ed students depicting the integration of variousstates had the audience tapping their feet.
Kundal, in his address lauded the role of MIER in spreading quality education and for producing enlightened citizens equipped with the necessary skills to assume leadership role in all walks of life. He further described the yeoman service rendered by MIER to the society and the state as exemplary and observed that the institution had become mature enough to function as a university. He lauded the efforts of the students and teachers in the organization of cultural programmes and winning top prizes in several curricular areas.
A Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER whoexpressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest on behalf of the students, staff and management of the institute for providing the much needed encouragement and assured that the institute will continue to serve the society with greater verve and enthusiasm.
