| Kashmir rail service remains off track for 5th day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Feb 13 : Rail service remained suspended in the Kashmir for the fifth day today due to curfew restrictions. However, air traffic was normal and Srinagar-Jammu national highway remained open. Until security clearance is received, the rail service will not be resumed, railway officials said. The rail run between Qazigund in south Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir via Srinagar and Badgam remained suspended because of curfew restrictions imposed in the Kashmir valley since February 9 as authorities apprehended violence following the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in Delhi's Tihar jail. The railway stations wore a deserted look for the past five days in the absence of any passenger, who remained confined in their homes due to curfew. This time railway authorities do not want to take any chance, they said. However, air service remained unaffected by the curfew restrictions as air tickets were being treated as curfew passes. The Srinagar-Jammu national highway remained through for one-way traffic. A number of vehicles could be seen in the civil lines, particularly from Batmaloo to Batwara during the relaxation period.
