| MIER College organize Inter-College Symposium | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 15: An Inter College Symposium was organized by the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education under the Project NEAC (National Environment Awareness Campaign 2012- 13) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment & Forests. The theme of the symposium was 'Have Educational Institutions Done Enough to Promote Preservation and Conservation of Biodiversity?'. Sushil Chugh Director, Dept. of Environment, Ecology and Remote Sensing J&K was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions, Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Dr. Annie Kaul, H.O.D B Ed, Dr B L Raina HOD M Ed, Rajendra Praveen HOD B Ed Special Education (MR) and other faculty members of MIER College of Education also graced the occasion. Formal welcome address was presented by Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER. In his welcome address, he hailed the achievements of Suresh Chugh, IFS who in fact has a lot of experience in the field of Natural Resources Management, Forestry Research, Participatory Management, Project Planning etc. Ten students from various Colleges of Education across Jammu city participated in this symposium. The students presented their views on the theme. On the basis of the results given by Jury members, Abhimanyu Khajuria from MIER College of Education clinched the 1st prize Divjot representing M.C. Khalsa College of Education won the 2nd prize and Shivani of Galaxy College of Education secured 3rd position. Certificates were also distributed to the participants. Chief Guest, in his address, highlighted the objective of the symposium which is to spread the message of sustainability. He discussed the role of educational institutions in conservation of Biodiversity. He appreciated the efforts of the College for organizing this kind of programmes. He also provided books on different environment issues for college library. Mementoes werealso presented to the honourable guests. Monika Bajaj, Incharge, Environment Education Unit presented the formal vote of thanks. The programme was compered by sha Sawhney, a student of B. Ed.
