NC's lie caught; Not UPA, Congress hanged Guru
Kamaal, Tanveer defend being in power with New Delhi

JAMMU, Feb 15: State Congress which was until yesterday 'responsible for all ills in Jammu and Kashmir' has overnight become guardian of the interests of Kashmir people and is not related to New Delhi Congress.
Not only this, Congress did not hang Afzal Guru but it was the coalition Government i.e. United Progressive Alliance (UPA) which took the decision to execute the judgement of Supreme Court. This is what Additional General Secretary of NC Dr. Mustafa Kamaal as well as the spokesman for Kashmir valley Tanveer Sadiq wants us all to believe. They have saying this in response to justification being sought from them for continued relationship with Congress in the State as well as Centre despite making too much of noise over the hanging of Afzal Guru. They have been giving statement after statement with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is also president of the party taking lead in criticizing the hanging of Guru besides formally seeking return of his body.
He has been saying everything from being kept in loop over the hanging decision to the youth identifying themselves with Afzal Guru. But desisting from talking straight about why they continue to be in power with a party which, according to NC has taken a wrong decision. They are unable to explain the people of Kashmir valley their continued support to UPA in the Centre. People have been reminded of NC of NDA regime.
Commoners do not hesitate in saying that NC preferred power and left the people of Kashmir valley to fend for themselves. They have done the same thing now and are in no mood to allow cooling of tempers by taking a decision which is in tune with the language that they have been using in public against Congress. Aggressive political posturing would seem justified to many in the State but it is Narendra Modi style i.e. followed up by development and progress.
NC's General Secretary Dr. Mustafa Kamaal has been abusing Congress since day one and has made no secret of his animosity towards the party which is leading UPA in New Delhi. However, he seems to have been told to mend fences, speak in soft tone and do not create a situation where New Delhi would ring up Omar to tell him about Congress deciding to snap ties with NC in Jammu and Kashmir. For Kamaal's information, decision to hang Afzal Guru was taken by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde; the mercy plea was rejected by President of the country Pranab Mukherjee, Information Minister Manish Tiwari was first to justify hanging followed up by MOS Home R.P. Singh. Kamaal needs not to be told that all of the leaders involved in the decision making process belong to Congress.
Above all, newspapers have made no secret of this being a politically loaded move of Congress to silence BJP and make road to New Delhi a difficult task for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Kamaal and Tanveer too cannot quote even a single Congress leader from Jammu and Kashmir saying anything different over the Guru hanging issue from what New Delhi has been saying since February 9.
The Jammu and Kashmir Congress has come to a situation where they even breathe after seeking permission from High Command. So, Kamaal's statement alongwith that of Tanveer Sadiq would neither convince people of Kashmir valley nor appeal the masses in Jammu region. Jammu and Kashmir Congress also justifies hanging of Guru under wraps but has preferred silence to keep a particular vote bank in certain constituencies intact.
Both Kamaal and Tanveer seem to be convincing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that whatever decision he took was right and people of Kashmir too see J&K Congress and New Delhi Congress in two different facets. They seem to be telling themselves that 'All is well and situation would be normal in the next few days. Afzal Guru would be a non-issue in the days to come and our statements would win us back the people." Whether or not this happens, all are convinced that to remain in power, NC has repeated NDA mistake.
