Govt enhances registration time by one hour in OPDs': Shabir
ASHAs' with poor performance to be disengaged

JAMMU, Feb 15 : With a view to ease the problems of patients in Hospitals, the Government has increased timing of registration by one hour in outpatient departments in all hospitals of the State.
The decision in this regard was taken today at a high level meeting of Health Department held under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan here on Friday.
The Minister said this step was taken for convenience of the patients especially those who reach late from remote areas for their treatment.
He said previously the registration of patients in Causality units of the hospitals was up to one 1p.m and now it has been enhanced up to 2 p.m. with immediate effect.
Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, M.K. Dewidi, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr.Madhu Khollar, Director NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director ISM, Dr. Abudal Kabir, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Kassir, Deputy Directors of various wings of Health Department, Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superidentandents of hospitals of Jammu province attended the meeting.
The meeting was convened to review the physical and financial status of several programmes under implementation in the division for improvement and up-gradation of healthcare facilities under NRHM and State plan.
The Minister said that to meet the shortage of doctors especially in rural and hilly areas, the government would enhance the incentives for engaging the medicos and other essential staff on contractual basis soon. He directed concerned authorities to submit the proposals for creation of posts of different categories to the government well in time for making early suitable arrangements so that the lack of staff in health institutions would be solved without further delay.
The Minister directed the concerned for taking proper care of safe institutional deliveries besides mother child care and instructed for strict monitoring of performance of ASHAs', instructing to disengage those workers not performing their job seriously. He said that healthcare check up of school going children should be ensured in all the schools and proper care should be paid on the ailments like dental, eye anomie and deworming of the children.
The Minister expressed dismay over the poor performance of Chief Medical Officers in the implementation of the components of flagship NRHM programme. He cautioned that further negligence in this regard would not be tolerated and action under rules will be taken against negligent officers and officials.
He directed the concerned authorities for submission of utilization certificates under each component of this flagship programme, asserting that this is must for release of further funds from the Centre.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to adhere to the government orders in letter and spirit and it should be ensured that no attachments of the staff were made at any level.
He said that all the doctors and paramedics should do their duties at their original place of postings adding that any complaint in this regard would be viewed seriously.
The Minister directed Director Health Services and Chief Medical officers to ensure frequent visits in the hospitals at district, tehsil and block levels to check that benefits are reaching to needy patients under NRHM.
