| BJP slams Govt for not providing relief to Padder fire victims | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KISHTWAR, Feb 15 : Slamming the state government for its failure to provide relief to the affected families of Paddar fire incident where 100 cattle burnt alive and 29 residential houses got completely gutted, the Senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma said that the claims made by the Government was totally untrue and s no help has so far reached the affected hamlet. Sharma said that ration, blankets, kitchen ware, cloths or mattresses were not at all provided to the affected families who spent the fateful night on the mercy of the Almighty. He said that more than 140 people spent their night in nearby residential houses. He said that the people are shivering in extreme cold weather adding that instead of shifting the affected people in school building or nearby Panchayat Ghar, the administration left them in the lurch. He said Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah instead of issuing hollow statements over the tragedy must direct the district administration to rush the relief material to the affected village by chopper. He said that due to accumulation of more than 3 feet snow in affected hamlet, there is remote chance of relief material reaching the affected families. He urged upon the Chief Minister to rise above the political considerations and immediately direct the concerned officers to rush the relief material through chopper so that the lives of the sufferers could be prevented from extreme harsh weather conditions. It is worthwhile to mention that MLA Kishtwar and MoS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo after making unsuccessful attempt of landing via state chopper at the affected village made cosmetic announcement at Kishtwar that government is providing relief to the sufferers. Bhartiya Janata Party Kishtwar strongly demanded Rs 5 lakh, timber and free ration of six months as compensation to each of the affected family from Prime Minister's Relief Fund with immediate effect. |
