| Chaman lambasts Govt for denying pension to widows, old aged | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 16: Lambasting the state as well as Union government for providing various facilities to secessionist elements and denying even meager pension to widows and old age citizens, on the pretext of funds paucity, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that such soft approach of government was encouraging the secessionist forces in the state. "At one hand government is permitting Kashmiri secessionist leaders to visit Pakistan and abroad to have meetings with the organizers and perpetrators of cross border terror, but it is great irony that widows and old age persons are being denied pension on the plea of funds scarcity" Prof Gupta said during interaction with activists of Jammu West Assembly Constituency. He further lambasted that huge funds were being spent to provide pensions, security and even medical aid to the leaders advocating secessionism and organizing strikes as also various types of subversion. Prof. Gupta further said that in the upcoming Assembly session, he would raise the issue and would question the ruling leaders that how and why such facilities are being provided to the advocates of secessionism even at the cost of the poor exchequer. At the meeting the activists also apprised Prof Gupta about various problems being faced by them including congestion, traffic chaos, sanitation, poor condition of roads, ration problems besides other. |
