| Fresh clashes reported in some pockets of South Kashmir, 4 held | | Addl Session judge Anantnag escapes unhurt | | Saahil Suhail Anantnag, Feb 16: After hours of normalcy on Saturday, afresh clashes between law enforcement agencies and youth took place in some parts of south Kashmir resulting complete shutdown in township areas. Some agitated youth damaged the vehicle of additional session Judge Anantnag who however escaped unhurt. Police used tear smoke shells to quell the youth who restored to stone pelting and reportedly have detained several among them. In Anantnag, a group of youth pelted stones on vehicles at K P Chowk, Laizbal and Sarnal for forcing people to observe shutdown. Similarly incidents of stone pelting were reported from the interiors of Anantnag including, Kadipora, Malkanag, Lal Chowk and Reshi Bazar. Police and other security forces had a hectic day as they got engaged in ding dong battle and have to chase stone pelters all the day. Police apprehended few among them whose identification could not be asserted yet. DIG South Kashmir, Vijay Kumar when contacted confirmed the stray incidents of stone pelting incidents in Anantnag district. He however added that the situation remained well under control in Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Awantipora. "South Kashmir remained peaceful except Anantnag and few stone pelting incidents took place in the district." DIG said, further adding, "police has so for arrested four people in this regard." He also confirmed that the vehicle of Additional Sessions Judge was damaged by the miscreants at Lal Chowk. |
