Sahai chairs meeting, finalizes arrangements
Run for Fun in Jammu on April 21

Jammu, Apr 6 : The Additional Director General of Police, Armed (ADGP), S. M. Sahai today chaired a high level meeting to finalize the arrangements made for 3rd Jammu Marathon “Run for Fun” to be held in Jammu on April 21, 2013. The meeting was held at Armed Police Headquarters here today and was attended by various senior police officers and sports organizations.
Addressing the meeting, the ADGP disclosed that the event is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme and a large number of people of different age groups is expected to participate in the Marathon. He said that people from all walks of life have shown much interest for their participation in the Run. Having different categories, the Run would start from Police Sports Stadium Gulshan Ground. Marathon open category would start their Run with first flag off ceremony at 5.45 a.m. and would return after covering a distance of 42 Kms. upto Nagrota bridge via Sidhra and return via Panchtharti. Half Marathon category for males would have to run a distance of 21.5 kms. which would start at 5.55 a.m. from the venue. Similarly senior citizens category and under 16 boys and girls would start their run from the venue and cover a distance of 4 and 12 kms. respectively, the ADGP added. Sahai said that Yoga and fitness trainers demonstration, orchestra, cultural programme, band display, musical chair for women, spoon race for kids and free medical check up for senior citizens would be the main attractions of rally. He said that all required arrangements have been made and traffic movement on the routes of marathon would be diverted to other routes to make the event convenient and successful. Arrangements for refreshment to the participants were also finalized in the meeting. Sahai disclosed, prize distribution ceremony would be held on the conclusion of the rally at Gulshan Ground and 42 cash prizes of Rs. 3 lakhs would be distributed among the winners of different categories, besides consolation prizes and merit certificate of participation would be distributed by the Chief Guest.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IsGP, PR Manhas and Muneer Ahmed Khan, DIsGP, T Punchok, AS Bali, Johny William, Rajinder Gupta and Shakeel Ahmed Beig, SSsP, Manmohan Singh, Vijay Singh Samyal, Vijay Kumar, Mir Mohammad Choudhary and RP Chalotra, Director Physical Education, Jammu University, Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, General Secretary. J&K High Court Bar Association, Ranjit Singh Jamwal, President, Jammu Chamber & Commerce, YB Sharma, Chief Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council, MS Baba, Medical Superintendent Police Hospital, Dr. Poonam Mahajan, besides Commandants of all Jammu based AP/IRP battalions and other police officers.
