JAMMU: To discuss various arrangements regarding annual Amarnath Yatra 2013 scheduled to commence from June 28 this year, a high level meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pardeep Gupta here today. Chief Executive Officer Navin K Choudhary was also present in the meeting. The Divisional Commissioner discussed various matters with Civil and Police administration with a view to ensuring timely arrangements for the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra. In the meeting all the aspects related to the commencement of Yatra, Yatra Registration, Accommodation/transport for Sadhus, Entry/toll Tax for buses/trucks at Lakhanpur, hoarding/banners, lodging facilities for yatries in Jammu province, boarding facilities, transportation of yatries, security arrangements, fixing of signboard, Communication Centre at Yatri Niwas, medical facility, mobile toilet vans, Tourist Information Centre were discussed threadbare besides issuing SIM cards to the Yatris for yatra days, traffic regulation, provisions for safe drinking water, power, sanitation/ cleanliness, both at Jammu base camp and districts enroute Yatra were also deliberated upon. The arrangements for accommodation of the pilgrims along the Yatra route in the eventuality of any emergency were also taken up for review. The Divisional Commissioner asked the concerned authorities to issue special sticker passes to the vehicles during the yatra carrying Yatris right from Lakhanpur so that they are saved from being subjected to frequent checks during their onward journey to the cave shrine. A 55-day yatra to Amarnath shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas will begin from June 28 this year. Earlier, Chief Executive Officer Navin K Choudhary apprised that comprehensive action plan has been drawn up to implement the recommendations of the State High Powered Committee (SHPC) and the directions of the Supreme Court. Elaborating, he said that the pilgrims this year would have to compulsorily furnish a health certificate while seeking registration for Amarnath yatra this year. The format of the compulsory health certificate has been drawn by a committee of medical experts drawn from the Union Health Ministry and the State Health Department, he said, adding that the pilgrims shall now have to submit information in the form of a self declaration about his/her current health status, past medical history and various ailments from which he/she may be suffering, or may have suffered in the past.
