| Jora, Bhalla pay obeisance at Laxmi Naryan temple Gandhi Nagar | | Direct JMC officers to ensure better sanitation around the temple | | JAMMU: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora and Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Mr. Raman Bhalla today visited Laxmi Naryan Temple at GandhiNagar and took stock of sanitation, drainage and sewerage system and other improvement of the roads and footpaths leading to the temple. Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Mr. Kuldeep Khajuria and consultant Dharmarth Trust were present on the occasion. Later, addressing the gathering and functionaries of the temple Mr Jora said that the government has taken up massive programme of giving a new look to the two capital cities of the State , adding that the priority is being given to ensuring clean and hygienic atmosphere in both capital cities. Ha said that every effort is being made to promote pilgrimage tourism along with other tourist facilities in all the three regions of the State. He said that Rs. 44 crore Golf Course project has been launched at Sidhara whileas 46 crore Gandola Project has been taken in hand at Bagh-e-Bahu Jammu. The Minister on the spot issued directions to the Municipal Authorities to initiate steps for fulfilling the genuine demands of the people of Gandhi Nagar put forth by the President of Luxmi Narayan Temple Trust. He directed the Municipal Commissioner to take immediate steps for the proper drainage system around the temple complex including covering the drainage system. He said that there would be no compromise on cleanliness of the city roads and asked the JMC authorities that there should be no garbage outside the temple complex as hundreds of devotees visit topay obeisance at the temple regularly. Mr. Jora while assuring the temple Trust Committee Members for early fulfilling their genuine demands directed Municipal Authority for early installation of high-mast light in the central hall including providing benches for providing comfort to devotees. Later, the Minister accompanied by Mr. Bhalla went round the temple complex and issued directions to the concerned offices for taking immediate steps for providing genuine facilities. Earlier, Mr. Bhalla while welcoming the Urban Development Minister for visiting temple complex said the government has already launched number of projects to make it more beautiful as tourist attractive destination. Endorsing the demands put forth by the temple trust members the Minister said government has already launched a massive infrastructural developmental programme under which dozens of buildings are presently under construction in Jammu city. He said that work on Sashtri Nagar Samshan Ghat is in full swing and so far more than Rs. 2 crore has been spent on that project. He said the government is committed to make the J&K State a Model State and in this regard a special focus has been given to develop infrastructure in Jammu city, however he said that peace and peoples’ cooperation is imperative for development and prosperity. He said that there is no dearth of funds and the central Government under the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is funding liberally for the welfare of the people of the State. He said that work on Rs. 100 crore maternity hospital and Rs. 11 crore auditorium is in progress. Earlier the former Minister and President , Laxmi Naryan Temple Trust, Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak give the brief account about the historical temple and submitted charter of demands to the Ministers which include proper drainage, solid waste management system public convince for shopkeeper, development of Banyan Tree area with bath and toiled facilities, development of walkway with tiles and laying of marble ceramic tiles in the community hall. |
