3- day Baisakhi mela concludes at Billawar

Kathua: The 3- day historic Baisakhi mela concluded here today with overwhelming participation of people at Billawar.
The culture troupes hailing from different parts of the State performed during the mela depicting the dogra culture and folk.
On the second day of the mela, sports competitions in various disciplines viz volleyball, kabbadi, tug of war, wrestling were organized which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Minister of State for Co-operative, Dr.Manohar Lal Sharma, was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away prizes to the winners of various sports event besides culture troupes including khajoor Singh and party , Bansi Lal and party, C. D Magotrta , Sureshtha and party , Seemu and party , Mulk Raj and party.
Culture items presented by various artists highlighted various evils prevailing in the society. One of the culture troupe through its dramatic acts rightly touched the nerve of the unemployed youth and urged them to avail the benefits of various government schemes to establish their own income generating units.
During the event, various departments installed their stalls exhibiting schemes and programs of the government.
Thousands of people were provided literature and several products of Government departments like Agriculture, Handicrafts and Handlooms.
On the concluding day of the mela, SDM, Billawar Dr. Vikas Gupta thanked all the departments for their cooperation and support for successful organization of Baisakhi mela. He also appreciated the artists for their contribution in promotion of culture and folk of the state.
Later, mementos were presented to the government departments.
