ANANTNAG: Minister of State for Animal & Sheep Husbandry, PHE, irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi Sunday said that government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people, adding that various new schemes are underway to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers so that more and more land is brought under irrigation. The Minister was addressing in public meeting at Khiram in South Kashmir. He asked the people to take full advantage of the schemes launched by the government from time to time. He also urged people to maintain peace and tranquility to keep the works programme going on. The Minister also laid foundation stone of Lift Irrigation Scheme at Khiram coming up at a cost of Rs. 2.17 crore. On the occasion, the Minister was informed that on the completion of this scheme, 125 hectare of land would get irrigation facilities in the area. Mr. Gurezi also laid foundation stone of Lift Irrigation Scheme at Wapzan Bijbehara. Rs. 2.6 crore are being spent on the execution of the scheme. On the occasion, the Minister was informed that on the completion of the scheme, 70 percent of the land in the area would get irrigation facility. MLC, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, MLC, Mr. Abdul Majeed Bhat also spoke on the occasion. Among others, Engineers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control were also present on the occasion. |
