Rahul Gandhi denounces personal attacks
4/22/2013 12:26:50 AM
Hyderabad: AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi has directed party leaders to stop personal criticism of Opposition leaders and said that criticism should be constructive. He said that leaders should tell the people about party policies and also what the party did while in government, and what it will do if voted to power again.
Rahul Gandhi’s direction becomes significant after the recent attack by finance minister Anam Ram Narayan Reddy on late Chief Minister YSR and his family, particularly Kadapa MP Jagan who is in jail. Rahul Gandhi told this to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC Chief Botsa
Satyanarayana when they met him recently in New Delhi.
“In a democracy personal attacks on leaders is not in good taste. People like a positive approach, and criticism about parties must be constructive,” Rahul Gandhi said when Karnataka elections came up for discussions.
“At the Centre and state level the Congress did many things. We have
launched many welfare schemes for the poor. Like AP, all Congress states will bring in the SC, ST Sub plan act,” Rahul said.
He wanted to know how the Congress leadership is going to face the general elections in AP. According to sources, Rahul asked some AICC leaders to prepare a report on the welfare programmes which are being implemented in AP by the Congress.
Rahul may use these points in his Karnataka campaign.
“Here the state government is implementing many pro-poor schemes.
The government is implementing the `1 a kg rice scheme which was announced by the BJP in Karnataka. The Congress is also speeding up its political campaign in Karnataka,” a PCC leader said.
