Transporters asked to desist from overcharging

JAMMU: The Transport Department has directed all the Transport Unions not to charge extra or exorbitant fares from the passengers moving from Jammu to Srinagar in connection with Annual Darbar Move 2013-14.
According to a notification issued from Transport Commissioner, any person found indulging in any such malpractice shall be dealt under law. The Passengers having any grievances can contact Transport Commissioner or Joint Transport Commissioner on 9419008749, Dy. Transport Commissioner on 9419198023 and Regional Transport Officer Kashmir on 9419095590 telephone/mobile numbers indicated against each officer.
Moreover, ARTO Jammu, Kuldeep Kumar and Motor Vehicle Inspector Sunil Kani have been deputed at Jammu Bus Stand and Sumo Stands, Jammu to ensure that the notified tariff is charged by the operators.
