| Shabir inspects under execution SDH complex R.S Pura | | | JAMMU: Minister of State for Health, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan today called upon the concerned executing agencies for ensuring time bound completion of on-going health infrastructure projects in the State adding that any negligence in this regard must be viewed seriously for stern action. He said “the un-necessary delays in the completion of projects not only causes cost escalation but creates problems for regulating better patient care facilities in the hospitals. These directions was given by the Health Minister today during his tour to R S pore, Jammu, where he inspected the pace of progress of under construction sub-district hospital building besides took stock of the functioning of Sub- District hospital, R S Pora. The construction work of SDH, RS Pora was taken up at accost of Rs 16.96 crore during the year 2011 and so far Rs 3.25 crore have been expended on its execution. The Health Minister expressed dismay over the slow pace of the work and directed the concerned officers of Housing Board Corporation for its time bound completion. He gave deadline for completion of Emergency block of the 3 story hospital complex by December 2013. Legislators, Ch Sham Lal Sharma and Prof. Garu Ram besides Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Modhu Kollar, Director NRHM, DR. Yashpal Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Jammu accompanied by the Minister during the tour. The Health Minister went round each section of the hospitals, met the patient and enquired from them about the available medicare facilities. He directed hospital administration for maintaining proper cleanliness in and around the Hospitals. The Health Minister issued on the spot instruction to Director Health, Jammu for providing 10 more beds to the hospital for increasing its bed capacity. He also instructed for carrying out repairs of Neonatal Unit of the hospital. He also took stock of the facilities being provided to the patients under centrally sponsored Schemes RKS and JSS. He directed the concerned for utilization of funds for hospital welfare with close consultation of concerned Legislators. The Minister during his meetings with hospital functionaries under scored the need for providing hassle free treatment facilities to the patients, and bringing complete transparency, accountability in the working of each section of the health centers. The Health Minister also received the appraisal about the several programmes and policies initiated for up gradation of health care facilities in the area from the concerned authorities. He asked the concerned authorities for bringing in more reforms in the Department to infuse efficiency, transparency and above all a qualitative change in the patient care at all hospitals. He said improvement of services in terms of patient care, medication and other facilities at hospitals is as important as strengthening basic infrastructure at these health institutions. |
