SRINAGAR: Saying that the implementation of National Saffron Mission are now showing desired results on the ground, Minister for Agriculture today stressed upon the Chief Engineer(CE) Mechanical to speed up the execution of deep dug well at the earliest, so that the saffron growers being facilitated with irrigation. The Minister gives these directions at high level meeting convened to review the execution process of Deep Dug wells in saffron bound area. The irrigation facility to saffron growers is one of the important component of National Saffron Mission. MLA Pampore, Mr Zahoor Ahmad, Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production, Dr. Asgar Samoon, Chief Engineer Mechanical, Mr Shafat Ahmad Chastti, Chief Engineer Power, Saffron Expert, Dr Firdous Nehavi, Director Command Area , Kashmir, Mr Tariq Ahmad, Director Agriculture, Kashmir, Peerzada Mushtaq Ahamad and other senior officers were present in the meeting. The Minister directed mechanical Engineers to hand over 47 Deep Dug wells to the Agriculture department by ending September, 2013 so that the maximum area of the saffron field would be irrigated during flowering period. The Minister receives the brief that out of 122 Deep Dug wells, the work on 72 are in progress He said that the required funds have already been released to the executing agencies. Mr. Mir directed Director Agriculture, Kashmir to have a close coordination with Chief Engineer Mechanical so that the target fixed for them should be completed. The Meeting further discussed the setting up of Spice Park at pampore for which the land has already been identified and construction of compound walling has been started. |
