| All habitations with over 250 population to get road connectivity: Rather | | Says faster’, inclusive and sustainable growth fulcrum of current years plan | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 16:The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today said that the present coalition government has embarked upon a prestigious plan to provide road connectivity to all habitations of over 250 population adding that the process in this regard is in full swung. During his inspection to under construction Rs 6.50 crore 3-span 100 meters long steel decked bridge between Sogam-Badipora and Rs 7.17 crore two bridges at Hafroo--Rupwan and Rupwan-Batapor-Nowgam in Chrar-i-Sharif constituency today, Mr. Rather said that under Prime Minister Gram SadakYojna, 222 habitations with above 250 population have already been linked to road network adding that current year’s plan allocations are also aimed at to provide road connectivity to remaining 155 such habitations. The Minister also took stock of the pace of progress on other under construction roads and buildings projects including Rs 1.43 crore Ist phase of Primary Health Centre Building at Nowpora and Rs 77.75 lakh double storeyed modern medical Laboratory Block in Government Higher Secondary School Hafroo-Batapora. The Minister asked the concerned engineers to expedite work on these projects so that these are dedicated to the people as early as possible. He said availability of funds will not be any constrain in completion of these projects. Mr. Rather was accompanied by the Managing Director, JKPCC, Mr T. R. Bhagat, Executive Engineer, R&B, Chadoora, Sheikh Ghulam Muhammad, Dy. General Manager, J&K, Housing Board, Mr AftabPandit and concerned engineers and officers of the district administration, Budgam. The Minister said that since the 12th Plan Document lays emphasis on “Faster, More Inclusive and Sustainable Growth”, the current year’s plan allocations have been cast around this basic theme. He said the allocations aim at the objectives of safe drinking water to all, road connectivity to habitations of over 250 persons, removal of un-employment and welfare of the weaker sections of the society. The Minister was informed by the engineers of JKPCC, which is the executing agency for construction of the bridges that against an estimated cost of Rs. 6.50 crore forSogan-Bandiporabridge, Rs. 3.70 crore has been expended so far and the bridge is expected to be completed by the month of October this year. Likewise, an allocation of Rs. 3.60 crore is required for completion of Hafroo-Rupwan –BataporaNowgam bridges and their approach roads. These two bridges are also expected to be fully completed by the month of October. The engineers of J&K Housing Board apprised the Minister that Ist phase (Ground floor) of PHC building atNowpora is nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned within 4 months. Mr. Rather instructed to the engineers to executive the works strictly as per the approved specifications. He appreciated the engineers of JKPCC for constructingthese bridges expeditiously. During the day long inspection of development projects, several deputations and individuals also met the Minister and apprised him about their grievances and problems which mainly included augmentation of drinking water and power supply in their respective areas. |
