Involvement of Panchyati Raj representatives necessary for need based development: Vikar

SRINAGAR: Maintaining that the government has already passed the instructions down the line to involve the Panchayati raj representatives in the developmental programmes, the Minister for Power, Technical Education, RDD, Mr. Viqar Rasool said that the same is necessary for inclusive and need based development of the Rural an far flung areas.
The Minister was speaking at a one day interaction camp organized by the department of Rural Development at Magam in Budgam district here today.
District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Mr. Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmed, Additional District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Mr. Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Bhat and senior officers of different departments, executing agencies, Panchs and Sarpanchs of the different areas of the district were also present on the occasion.
The Minister said that the government by putting in place the Panchyati Raj has ensured the democratic decentralization of powers and the people at the grass root level are being involved in the day to day governance and policy formulation. He said that the Panchs and Sarpanchs have also been empowered with the powers of 14 vital departments and in this regard the necessary orders have already been issued.
Mr. Vikar called upon the Panchs and Sarpanchs to work in close coordination with the officers of different departments so that the need based development of their respective areas took place. He said that the officers should extend full cooperation to the Panchyati Raj representatives and consult them while formulating various schemes and also in their implementation.
The Minister said that the government is committed for ensuring the holistic development of the State and in this regard several developmental programmes have been under taken. He said that the government believes in sustain action and a mechanism has already been put in place to ensure various developmental initiatives under taken are completed within the stipulated time period for the benefit of the people.
