| DC launches ‘PRAYAS’, an initiative to connect with every citizen | | | KATHUA: In a significant move to make the working of district dispensation more transparent, responsible and accountable, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kathua, Jitendra Kumar Singh, on Thursday launched “PRAYAS”, a first ever initiative in the state to connect with every citizen for redressal of their grievances. Under this people friendly step, the public would be able to project their issues by mere making a phone call to Deputy Commissioner’s office to redress genuine cause of the public at the Headquarter of the citizens Addressing a press conference, the DDC said a dedicated phone number 01922-238796 has been installed to take direct calls from the people on every Wednesday from 10-11am. He said during the one hour of every Wednesday the people from any area of the district can directly interact with deputy commissioner along with all the district officers and can register their grievances. He said the emphasis will be to redress the query/ grievance within stipulated time thereby an attempt to reach out every one in the district. The Deputy Commissioner said the motive behind “PRAYAS” is to save time and money of the common man who otherwise has to cover long distance to convey their queries and grievances. This will help mitigation of people’s grievances at their doorsteps thus making the administration easily accessible to common people, he added. He said that the district will soon have a new website containing valuable information of administrative hierarchy, government programmes, schemes and initiatives. The website will also be a one click destination of important database of different nature and discipline useful for the information of general public. This will make administration transparent besides reducing the number of RTI applications by complying with section 4 of J&K RTI Act 2009 for voluntary disclosure of maximum information. However, before initiating “PRAYAS”, the DC has already established public grievances centre (PGC) for the public in order to ensure the action on priority within a given period after duly marked by the DC.
