Turmoil has marred opportunities of Valley youth: Mir

CHECK RAWANPORA: Saying that two decades long turmoil in Valley mar the opportunities of youth, Minister for Agriculture, Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir this afternoon called upon the youth that several steps has already been taken by state and centre Governments to provide them platform to channelize their capability in sports and other fields.
The Minister said this in public meeting after watching the final match of Excellent Cricket tournament in which 48 teams of different areas participated. He said that “with the efforts of common people of the valley, the peace has again retuned in the minds of people of the state due to this, normal and sports activities are picking momentum every passing day”.
Mr Mir asking the youth that the “world is yours and it is your choice how you shape the ideas for sustainable career for himself and society”. “If you want to be on top of the world, use your time judiciously”, he maintained. He cited the example of Cricketer ParvazeRasool and recent successful aspirants of IAS from different parts of J&K adding that they are now the torch bearers for younger generation.
Refereeing the steps taken by the coalition government for the development of sports infrastructure, The Minister said that adequate funds have been made available on the disposal of Sports council and Directorate of sports for up gradation of sports infrastructure and organizing the sports events of different sports activates across the state particularly in rural areas for nourishing their hidden talent. He said that a centrally sponsored scheme was also launched in the state to upgrade rural sports fields at Panchyait level which would help to encourage the rural talent of the state.
Mir said that sports department has already given the direction to issue yearly based fixture of all the sports activities so that every youth would get chance to channelize their ability for future prospects. He said that the coalition government has provide focused attention towards sports activities in the state during last four years and so many national tournaments have been organized in which local players participated. The local players who show excellent performance in these competitions were given chance at national and international level.
Later the Minister distributed the awards and mementos among the winner and runner-up team and other players who performed well during the tournament.
