Two Irrigation projects worth Rs. 28.05 cr approved for Tangmarg area under 12th TAC: Mir

SRINAGAR: Minister For Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir Friday said that two ambitious irrigation projects worth Rs 28.05 cr have been approved by 12th Technical Advisory Committee(TAC) to provide irrigation facilities to Chukar Bewa and Nehalpora of Tangmarg area.The Minister said this at a high level meeting which was convened to review the progress of irrigation and flood control projects of the Tangmarg and its adjoining areas. The Minister directed Chief Engineer, Irrigation and FC, Kashmir to start the construction work of water storage tank at Chukar Bewa, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 14.12 Cr and remodelling of Nehalpora Khul at a cost of Rs 13.93 Cr immediately. He said after completion of these projects the maximum un- irrigated areas of these areas would be irrigated. The Minster said that three tube well irrigation schemes for orchards of Waripora, Heenza, Chichloora have also been approved under 12th TAC and work on these projects is being started soon.
The meeting discussed various irrigation and Flood Protection projects thread bear.
The meeting also discussed progress of Khir and Teligam Khul as both the projects were cleared under 10th TAC.
The Minister asked Chief Engineer, Irrigation & FC to prepare a Detailed Project Report for irrigation at Lalpora and other Karewas and lift irrigation scheme at downstream of sarsi flume on Nehalpora Khul to provide irrigation facilities to orchards of these areas.
The Minister was informed that DPRs for flood protection works at Kunzar at a cost of Rs 35 cr and Magam at a cost of Rs 20 cr have already been submitted while as protection work of embankment on Kunzar at Khaipora has been tendered out. He was further informed that DPRs for augmentation of Gratbasin khul of Lalpora at cost of Rs 61.47 lakhs, construction and re-modeling of Yal Khul at a cost of Rs 12.90 cr, construction of lift irrigation scheme Thehsari at a cost of Rs 3.34 cr and construction and re-modeling of Wussun Khul 6.40 cr have already been submitted for inclusion in4 TAC 13th.
Chief Engineer (CE) Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr Tariq Ahmad Jaffri, S.E Hydrolics circle Sopore, SE Mechanical, Executive Engineers and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
