ANANTNAG:The Bijbehara Sports Club today lifted APL-III Cricket Tournament-2013 trophy defeating Lions Club Anantnag by 5 wickets in the final.
The APL-III Cricket Tournament-2013 which concluded here today was organized by the I RR Mahar in collaboration with Department of Youth Services and Sports.
District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr.Farooq Ahmed Lone was the chief guest, while as Brigadier, Deepak Banerjee, Commander/Sector 1 RR was the guest of honour on the occasion.
As many as 24 teams participated during the tournament.
Highlighting the importance of sports, the District Development Commissioner said that sports play vital role in shaping the personality of the youth. It inculcates the sense of team spirit and quick decision making power. He said the government has taken various steps to construct and up-grade the existing sports infrastructure in the District.
Mr. AasifRasool has been declared man of the match from Bijbehara team, while as Mr. HananGowhar from Young Kodipora was declared man of the series.
Later, the Chief Guest gave away trophies, medals and cash prizes among winner and runners-up teams. |
