Peerzada pays rich tributes to late Rajiv Gandhi

Srinagar: Highlighting the role of former Prime Minister of India Late Rajiv Gandhi in strengthening the Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) in country, Minister for Haj, Auqaf and Floriculture and ex-president, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said that the efforts of Rajiv Gandhi brought reforms in Panchayat Raj Institution.
The Minister was addressing a one-day convention of Congress Workers at Anantnag today organized to pay tributes to late Rajiv Gandhi on his 22nd death anniversary.
Paying rich tributes to late Rajiv, the Minister recalled his sacrifice and said that Rajivjilaid down his life for the unity and integrity of the country. He said that decentralization of powers to the rural masses through PRI was the dream of late leader which has now being realized into reality by conducting Panchayat elections in the State with the help og UPA Government. He also remembered his contributions for bringing revolution in Information Technology and Communication sector of the country.
Peerzada termed that late leader was a great and dynamic leader and a visionary statesman who gave boost to country’s economy and offered pride place to nation in the world.
He said that he also launched various welfare schemes for the upliftment of the underprivileged and downtrodden.
Describing Rajiv as an astute leader, Peerzada said that his role for maintaining cordial relations with neighboring countries shall never be forgotten. He said that late leader made all out efforts during his tenure as Prime Minister of the country to further strengthen the relations with European countries.
The Minister urged upon the party cadre to follow the path shown by Rajiv Gandhi and adopt his ideals in their life.
He also called upon the party workers to take Rajiv’s spirit in strengthening the Congress Party.
“Following the principles of late leader will be the best homage to the departed leader,” said the Minister, appealed party workers to hold firmly the rope of the party and work for its strengthen and expansion at grass-root level.
