Govt committed to inclusive development of state: Sham

JAMMU, May 28 : Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma on Tuesday reiterated the commitment of government for inclusive and equitable development of the state. Sham Lal Sharma was addressing several deputations belonging to different areas of Jammu district who projected demands of their respective areas in presence of officers of district administration, functionaries of Power Development Department, Public Health Engineering (PHE) and other departments.
Minister resolved various issues on the spot and instructed the concerned departments to use every means to meet the other demands. He also reviewed the delivery of public services, pace on the ongoing developmental and civic works besides other facilities in general and in the winter capital in particular. District Development Commissioner Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Engineer, PDD, Shehnaz Goni, Chief Engineer RTIC, V. K. Badyal, S. E. Hydraulic Susheel Aima, Executive Engineers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control and Ground Water Division, President Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Y. P. Sharma were present on the occasion. A delegation from Vijaypur, led by ex. Minister S Manjeet Singh apprised the minister about the problems of residents of Purmandal, Rajinder Pura and Mohalla Masha etc which were mainly related to supply of drinking water, up-gradation of power infrastructure, better health services etc. The Minister gave instructions to the concerned departments and assured the delegation that their demands will be redressed on priority.
A deputation of ITI Diploma holders and daily rated workers union, led by District President Samba, Munish Abrol also met the Minister and projected their demands. He assured that their genuine demands will be looked into sympathetically. Another deputation from Tanda Akhnoor also met the Minister and apprised the minister about the difficulties faced by various villages in the area due to unauthorised land encroachment by some persons. The Minister said that the case is sub- judicial and the government could not interfere in the matter at this stage.
In response to the demands of a deputation from Ramgarh, Samba and Chowadhi, Jammu , the Minister discussed the demands raised by the deputation with concerned Executive Engineer on telephone and assured the deputation that other demands will be redressed on priority basis. The main demands raised by various deputations included construction of tube-wells, improvement in power supply system, up-gradation of drainage system , up-gradation of hospitals, improvement of irrigation facilities to the farmers. On a complaint, the Minister ordered SE Ground Water Division to submit a detailed report about the functioning of a Tubewell at Nai Basti, Akhnoor The Minister directed all officers to work with dedication and ensure that essential supplies and services are made available to the general public during the summer season.
