SRINAGAR, June 5: A meeting of Committee on Subordinate Legislation of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA, Adv. Abdul Haq Khan here today. Legislators, Mr. Rafi Ahmed Mir, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Mr. KrishanChanderBhagat and Er Abdul Rashid gave their valuable suggestions to improve the functioning of the Committee and make it result oriented. Threadbare discussion was held on rules, regulations and Act related to Power Development Department. Deliberations were also held on J&K electricity Act Rules 1963, J&K electricity Act 20% J&K energy consumers Act, metering, distribution of power losses, system improvement and Bijli Camps. The Committee stressed for reducing power losses and directed the concerned to gear up their field squads so that the power thefts can be minimized. Discussing the issue of metering, the meeting was informed that 40% metering has been done in the valley so far. The Committee stressed for 100% metering. Stressing for streamlining the functioning of PDD and assuring accountability of all the levels of officials, the Committee resolved that the department will make sure that the supply and demand of power will always be priority and people will be facilitated with adequate power supply and revenue shall also be collected accordingly from the consumers. The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Mrs. FarhatTasneen, Secretary (Tech) PDD, Asgar Ali, Special Secretary Assembly Mr. M. R.
