SAMBA, June 5: The Civil Defense Organization, Samba, organized one day awareness camp on Civil Defense and Disaster Management here today. Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner R.K Varma appreciated the functioning of organization and urged them to hold more such awareness camps in future to create mass awareness throughout the nook and corner of the district especially in school and colleges. Earlier, Deputy Controller, Sudershan Mehta gave a detailed account of the working of the organization and said that the main aim of the workshop is to educate the participants about the preventive measures for rescue and first aid during disasters. The civil defense team made the participants aware about various types of disasters and their management. They explained how a person can save lives of others while saving his/her own life during natural and anthropogenic disasters. The instructors of Civil Defence Organisation also delivered lectures to acquaint the participants with the techniques to be undertaken at the time of need. On the occasion, a mock drill exercise was also conducted by the Civil Defence instructors and State Disaster Response Force personnel. The experts demonstrated various rescue operations including fires, earth quakes, road accidents, or heart attack, and providing them first aid including bandage techniques, treatment of bleeding areas, preparation of temporary stretchers, transferring causalities from multi-storey buildings by ropes and ladders, etc. District Fire Officer Samba S.C Verma, also gave a lecture on the role of fire services during disaster and fire fighting while Inspector Vishal Soor gave a lecture on earthquake. Among others the camp was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bikram Singh Jamwal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ashwani Khajuria, Additional Superintendent of police Kaushal Sharma, Dy.SP HQ Samba Munish Anand, Chief Warden Dharamver Singh, and Dy. Chief Warden Sanjay Gupta besides officers of district administration and staff of Civil Defence. |
