NEW DELHI: With an aim to cash-in on the growing demand for smart phones in the country, China-based computer maker Lenovo on Wednesday launched six new devices in India, priced between Rs. 8,689 and Rs. 32,999. “The journey of Lenovo smart phones in India that began last year in November, takes a whole new dimension with the launch of six new power-packed mobile devices, which offer an excellent choice for smart phone buyers in India,” Lenovo India Managing Director Amar Babu told reporters here. Each smart phone is designed taking into consideration specific customer needs for Indian market, he added. “Our retail footprint has grown considerably to 3,000 retail stores, since we launched our first range of smart phones last year. We will continue to expand our reach across India,” Mr. Babu said. All the models - A390 and A706 (priced at Rs. 8,689 and Rs. 15,949), S820 and S920 (priced at Rs. 19,599 and Rs. 26,339) and the P780 (priced at Rs. 22,529) and premium K900 (priced at Rs. 32,999) - run on Google’s Android operating system. Lenovo India Director (smartphones) Sudhin Mathur said the company will focus on retailing and increasing its outlets to 10,000 by year-end. Mr. Mathur added that each phone in the entire range has been launched targeting a specific customer requirement. “K series is for customers looking for a cutting edge experience, S series are stylish eye-grabbing handsets, P series targets professionals and the A series is for youths who want a high performance economical handset,” he said. The company has a successful mobile phone business in China, Indonesia, Philippines, Russia and Vietnam. |
