| Pro-people policies brought the state on track of peace, prosperity: Shabir | | ‘BPL families of 10 districts to get insurance health cover under RSBY’ | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 5: Reiterating the commitment of the government to ensure holistic development of all the regions of the State with special focus on border and hilly areas, the Minister of State for Health, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan has said the governments’ pro-people policies and exemplary initiatives have brought the State on the track of peace and prosperity. He affirmed that this tempo would be carried forward with a mission to ensure all-round development of rural as well as border people.
Addressing public meetings today at Nerojal, Dehri-Ralyote and Gulhuddi in Rajouri, the Minister said that people friendly initiatives taken by the government during the last over four years towards bringing accountability and transparency in the administration is worth appreciating. He said holding of Panchayat elections, enactment of Right to Information Act and Public Service Guarantee Act are the landmarks in improving governance structure in the state.
The Minister said that people pinned their hopes with public representatives and asked the Panchs and Sarpanchs to work sincerely for welfare and development of the people. He said that primary responsibility of the public representatives is to go to the people for determining and addressing their problems through Government agencies. He asked people to know their rights and seek due share in development process launched by the Government across the State.
Referring to the development of block Manjakot, the Minister said that Rs.4crore is being expended for upgradation of basic facilities in the block during current year under MGNREGA. He said under BADP Rs 1.02 crore would be spent on various developmental works in the area.
He said Rs 20 lakh would be expended for completion of ISM hospital building at Dehri-ralyotethis financial year adding that due consideration would be given to upgrade the health care facilities in remote and hilly terrain villages of the district.
The Minister said that to provide health insurance cover to BPL families 10 districts of the State is being brought under Rashtriya SwasthyaBimaYojna(RSBY) adding that Srinagar and Jammu districts were already covered under this Scheme.He said to strengthen the patient transportation facility, the purchase of 200 ambulances is in process. He said several steps have been taken to reverse the trend of declining sex ratio and Health Department has dedicated year 2013 to “save the girl child”.
Highlighting the priorities under health sector, the Minister said that all such areas having difficult topography would be provided health center facilities. He said in this regard the government has already moved a proposal to the Centre for according the sanction for release of funds.
Interacting with several deputations during his tour to these villages, the Ministerreaffirmed that being the local representative, equal development of all the areas of the district was my priority and no injustice would be done to any area of the district on the developmental front. He assured the people that all their genuine developmental needs would be carried out in a phased manner. He also impressed upon the officers to solve the people’s genuine problems on priority. |
