| Lone inaugurates International Conference on RD, Sustainability & Socio-Economic Dev | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 5: Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone inaugurated International Conference on Regional Development, Sustainability and Socio-Economic Development in Jammu and Kashmir at Amar Singh College here today. The conference was jointly organized by Amar Singh College and Kashmir University in collaboration with Initiative for Social Change and Action(ISCA) and Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. Among others, Ambassador of Afghanistan, Mr. Shaida Mohammad Abali, Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, Prof Talat, Secretary Higher Education, Mr. Aggarwal, Mr. BupinderZutshi, General Secretary(ISCA), Mr. P.M Kulkarni, Chairman, Center for Study of Regional Development, JawaharLal Nehru University. Principal A S College, Prof M.Y. Peerzada, Principals of various colleges, Professors, Scientists, lecturers from various States and large number of students were present in the conference. Mr. Lone while addressing the conference said that Kashmir is ideal destination for making it an educational hub. He said our soil is fertile in education and students have proven their mettle in all fields all across the globe despite of turmoil and other unfavorable conditions in past two decades. He said that J&K has background of socio-economic relation with Afghanistan and we all should put in joint efforts for further strengthening the relations. The Minister said it should be our motive to deliver our best for this noble cause. He said liberal funding is must for the socio-economic regional development. Ambassador of Afghanistan while speaking on the occasion said initiatives are being taken for the revival of relations for the regional development between J&K and Afghanistan. He urged for moving towards the path of socio-economic regional development. Prof. Talat also expressed his views in the conference and said that such conferences will benefit the teachers and students as well and by holding technical sessions they will be acquainted with the worldly affairs and new fields of development besides will get exposure of modern and latest trends necessary for the regional development he asked the students to study with dedication and commitment so that they could achieve the goal and lead the State to new heights of success. |
