KUPWARA, June 5: In connection with the World Environment Week celebrations several functions were organized in the district to observe the occasion.
The main function was organized by the Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Kupwara in collaboration with B. Ed College, Drugmulla, Help Foundation and CAP Foundation here today. Anti-Polythene rally was also organized on the eve of World Environment Day. The rally was taken out from JSS to main Chowk Kupwara and concluded at D.C Office, Kupwara. The participants carrying banners and posters besides advocating complete ban on polythene products to keep the environment clean and pollution free.
Later, Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara was submitted a memorandum, demanding complete ban on polythene and blanket ban on new plantation of Russian popular trees in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Planning Officer, Director JSS, Chairman, B. Ed. College Drugmulla, Project Co-ordinators, Help and CAP Foundations besides school children of different schools and teachers participated in the function. |
