| Roof of a five decade old School in Rajouri damaged | | | Rajouri, Jun 15: Thunder storm followed by torrential rains damaged the roof of 50 years old government girls higher secondary school situated in the heart of old city. According to locals a portion of the galvanized steel sheets was found lying on the ground in the morning when they visited the campus early in the morning. "The school was constructed about 50 years ago and the students often have been complaining about the frequent leakage of the roofs during rains for the last many years, they said further lamented that though the matter was brought several times in the notices of concerned minister, successive DDCs, CEOs and ZEOs but nothing was done in this matter. "And the squall that hit Rajouri proved a boon for the students as now the authorities have to construct and got the damages to be repaired, one local quipped During intervening night of June 14/15strong winds uprooted almost half of the roofs and steel sheets which were found scattered in the campus. Sunil Gupta, a social worker said, "the school presently is closed for summer vacations otherwise the things would have been different. "The department must wake up from slumber and get the necessary repair works as early as possible before the end of the vacations" he said. Pardeep Sharma, (Officiating) Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri said that the department has sufficient funds and before the end of the vacations the school building will fully be renovated with necessary directions to the head of the institution". |
