| Roads are Lifelines of the Nation: Wani | | | MARMAT(Doda): Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani today visited far flung and hilly areas of Marmat Block Doda and laid the foundation stones of three vital roads which included 12 km Hamble to Dedni Mandir link road, 15 km Bhargran to Behota link road, 13 km Bhargran to Rote and 5 km Dranga to Mangota link Road. While addressing a series of public meetings at Hamble, Bhargran and Goha, Mr. Wani said that the Government is making out all efforts to connect the remote and inaccessible habitations which are without any road connectivity. He said with the construction of this road a huge bunch of population majority belonging to Schedule Caste will be benefitted. The Minister said that the Shudhmahadev Tunnel has also been sanctioned by CentralGovernment which will connect Marmat to Chenani. Mr. Wani said that interconnectivity of villages, habitations and regions is among the priorities of the Government. He said that an alternate road connectivity always provide an option for the hassle free to and fro movement of passenger transport and movement of essential utilities in the region which ultimately benefits the people and helps to minimize the problems being faced by people. He also said that inter-connectivity road projects have been initiated and various others are in pipeline and soon we will have a network of roads in the state which will provide alternate road connectivity between different regions of the state. These roads will lead to a new era of development in the region and will create opportunities for new business, education and health facilities. MLC, Mr Sham Lal Bhagat, who was accompanying the Minister highlighted the role of panchayats in the development of rural areas and said that awareness and authority to panchayats will increase the accountability and transparency in the system. The local people of the region apprised the Minister of their problems regarding scarcity of water, shortage of ration, and bad condition of roads and schools. Mr. Wani issued on the spot Instructions to officials to mitigate the problem of people. |
