| Thieves made abortive bid to loot ATM at Rajouri | | | Rajouri, June 22 : Un-identified thieves have attempted to break open ATM of J&K Bank's located at Gujjar Mandi branch of Rajouri, on the intervening night of June 21-22. On the information of bank authorities police has registered a case under section s 457/427 against the unidentified accused. According to police, no arrest has taken place till late in the evening and during investigation it came to fore that no guard was posted at the ATM.
Police said that the accused were having the exact information about the location of the machine as they made a hole just behind the ATM machine after breaking the wall of the room from back side. As the accused tried to break the machine with an axe from back side the front glass of the machine was damaged and as it fell on the ground creating sound accused reportedly left the shop apprehending trouble. "The cash was intact in the machine but it was not working .The matter has been brought to the notice of police. I have no exact information about the cash in the ATM but it could be between2-2.5 lacs" said Gurcharan Singh , Zonal head of J&K bank. |
