SRINAGAR, June 23 : To invoke the blessings of Shri Amarnathji, Mr. B. D. Mengi, Director of Holy Cave Shrine Area, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, performed Pratham Pooja at the Holy Cave today morning, amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras. Since 2011 the Shrine Board has been conducting Pratham Pooja on the auspicious occasion of Jyesht Purnima every year to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva for the peaceful and smooth conduct of the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra. Officials of the Shrine Board and personnel of the State Police, Security Forces and Army were among those present on the occasion of the Pooja. Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, was slated to perform the Pooja at the Holy Cave but could not do so because of the non-availability of State Helicopter, due to technical reasons. The annual Yatra this year will commence on 28th June 2013 and conclude on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, which falls on August 21st. |
