FPP worth Rs 35 crore for Farozepora Nallah submitted to TAC for approval: Mir

BABGUND(PATTAN): Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir Sunday announced that a comprehensive Flood Protection Project (FPP) worth Rs. 35 crore has been formulated by the Flood Control Department for construction of protection bandh to protect the Agriculture and Horticulture land of Babgund and adjacent areas from the Farozpora flood prone Nallah.
The Minister said this while addressing a mammoth public gathering at Babgund and Malmoo this morning.
Mr. Mir said that the ambitious project has already been sent to Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for approval and hoped the project would be sanctioned by end of October this year. He said the work on the mega project could be started in next year. He said that the project after completion would save thousand kanals of productivity land.
The Minister said that government is taking every possible step to protect the Agriculture land from flood by way of construction of flood protection bandhs in every area vulnerable to flood prone nallah. He said in this regards comprehensive flood protection projects have already been framed under various schemes including MGNERGA across the state. After completion of these projects, lakhs kanals of agriculture land would be retrieved, he maintained.
Mr. Mir said that construction work on Babgund Foot Bridge would be started soon and assured the people that project would be completed in a stipulated time. With regard to up-gradation of link roads of the area, he said that instructions have already been passed to the concerned executive engineer for formulating a project for their earliest execution.
Asking the people to provide cooperation to the government, the Minister said that peoples’ cooperation is very much imperative for holistic development of the state. He said that with active support of people, the government has succeeded in launching various ambitious developmental projects and welfare schemes for the benefits of the common masses.
