| Lone reviews yatra arrangements | | | JAMMU: Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone, today visited Jammu base camp at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar and took stock of the arrangements being made for the visiting Shri Amarnathji Yatris for this year’s Yatra, commencing from June 28, 2013. The Minister had a round of the Yatri Niwas complex and viewed the venues where various required facilities would be put in place for the Yatris. Additional Divisional Commissioner Jammu R. S. Mehta, Director Tourism Soujanya Sharma, who accompanied the Minister, briefed him about the facilities to be provided to the Yatris for their comfortable stay. Lone impressed upon the concerned officers to gear up their men and machinery so that all the facilities including power, drinking water, sanitation, transport, security, Langar arrangements and other facilities would be provided to the Amarnathji pilgrims at the base camp and other stations. He asked CAPD for regular market checking to ensure that the yatris are not overcharged by the shopkeepers during their stay in Jammu. He hoped that this year’s Yatra will be a grand success. The Minister said that the government is determined to ensure smooth conduct of the annual yatra besides ensuring all necessary services to the devotees. Later, the Minister visited the R.S. Pura Degree College and reviewed the functioning of the institute. The Principal informed the Minister about activities and progress of the college. The Minister stressed upon the teaching fraternity to ensure quality education to the students. The Minister was also informed about the dilapidated condition of the building because of sub-standard material used in the construction. The Minister directed the concerned officers to enquire into the matter and submit the report within shortest possible time. He assured strict action against the responsible in the matter. |
