| Wani inaugurates vital bridge at Tengpora, PWD guest house at Hyderpora | | | SRINAGAR: Minister for R&B Mr. Abdul Majid Wani inaugurated 309-mtr long double lane combined bridge over flood spill channel and Doodh Ganga Nallah on National Highway Byepass at Tengpora, Srinagar today. The double lane 8 span bridge has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 16.25 crore by the R & B Department. Expressing satisfaction over the completion of construction work on this vital link within the targeted period, the Minister said that the facility will go a long way in mitigating the problems of people of adjoining localities for which they were pressing hard since long. He maintained that the bridge will also provide connectivity between different parts of Bye-Pass road, ease traffic congestion of Srinagar city and its adjoining areas. The Minister said that the construction of bridge was part of National Highway Package-I, which proposed 4 bridges and one flyover from Parimpora to Pantha Chowk on NHIA Bye-pass. He said those 3 bridges at Lasjan, Padshahi Bagh and Chhanpora and one flyover at Hyderpora have already been dedicated to the people recently, adding that the works under Package-I have been completed. The Minister said that the DPRs for construction of inter-sections at Sanat Nagar and Bemina have been prepared and submitted to the government for approval. He said that an overhead pedestrian bridge is also coming up to provide free movement to the pedestrian, adding that construction of flyover at Sheltang inter-section is also on the priority list of the government. Mr. Wani further said that the Government has taken in hand massive projects of roads, building and bridges to extend infrastructural facilities to the people during the present coalition regime. He said that most of the projects have been completed as per the schedule and several others are in pipeline and likely to be accomplished within the targeted time schedule. He said that many important proposals are under consideration for giving a new look to the uncovered areas of the state. Later, the Minister also inaugurated PWD guest house at Hyderpora, Srinagar. Spread over 5 kanals of land, the double storey complex having 4108 square feet constructed area has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.36 crore. The complex has been equipped with all modern facilities for the guests. Among others, Legislators Mr. Irfan Shah, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, besides Chief Engineers R&B, Mechanical, PMGSY, Managing Director, JKPCC and prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasions. Meanwhile, a delegation of locals led by MLA, Mr. Aslam Wani called on the Minister and apprised him about the problems being confronted to them with regard to the upgradation of road infrastructure. He assured them that Government will examine the issues and address them on priority. In the meantime, the Minister also chaired a joint meeting of officers of R&B, PMGSY and JKPCC convened to review the physical and financial achievements of the projects, which are under execution in Kulgam and Khan Sahib Constituencies under various schemes in R&B department. The Legislators of both the constituencies Mr. M Y Tarigami and Mr. Hakim Mohammad Yasin were present in the meeting. Mr. Wani reviewed the pace of work project-wise and scheme-wise and directed the concerned for expediting the pace of construction ensuring their timely completion for the benefit of the people. With regard to repair and renovation of existing roads, he directed for preparing the DPRs of all such road projects so that funds are arranged. |
