Sahu discusses I-Day arrangements

JAMMU, July 6 : In order to review the arrangements for Independence Day, 2013, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Ajit Kumar Sahu, here today. The meeting was attended by ADC, Jammu, Dr. R.S. Sharma, Assistant Commissioner General (ACG), Shehnaz Chowdhary, Tehsildar Jammu, Mr. Shesh Pal Salgotra, RTO , Joint Director Information, Mrs. Smita Sethi, Mr. Arvind Kotwal, Joint Commissioner JMC, Mr. Kapil Sharma, SP South, Mr. Rajeshwar Singh, Health Officer, JMC, Dr. Vinod Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, Mr. Javed Chib, Director Jammu Development Authority, S. Jatinder Singh, Additional Secretary, Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Mrs. Savita Baskshi besides senior officer of PHE, PDD, Police, CRPF, PWD, Education and other concerned departments
It was informed that the main function would be held at Mini Stadium Parade Ground, Jammu with unfurling of the tricolour at 9 A.M followed by march past by the contingents drawn from District Police, Armed Police, Auxiliary Police, Fire Services, NCC, CRPF, Civil Defence, Forest Protection Force, educational institutions. Detailed discussions were held on various issues for smooth celebration of the National event which include security, traffic arrangements, sanitation, face-lifting, repair/renovation works at the venue, power and water supply, sitting and barricading, illumination of important buildings like Raj Bhawan, Civil Secretariat, High Court, Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner offices, Town Hall etc, cultural items, transportation, arrangement of Public Address System, lighting arrangements, fire tenders, medicare, refreshment etc.
The DDC asked the concerned department to start the face-lifting work of Mini Stadium and complete it in a shortest possible time. PHE and PDD departments were asked to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply during rehearsal days and on Independence Day, the Jammu Municipal Corporation was directed to ensure cleanliness at the venue and in entire Jammu city. Likewise, the Police and Traffic department were asked to make arrangements of security and traffic management besides parking of VVIP and public vehicles at various points.. The Health Department was asked to arrange sufficient number of ambulances with team of specialized doctors and para-medical staff to meet any emergency, in addition to an ambulance from Civil Defence, the Department of Fire Services will arrange fire tenders at the venue and other important places.
District Zila Sainik Welfare Officer was asked to submit a list of State and National awardees to the Deputy Commissioner Office to honour them on the Independence Day.
The DDC asked all the concerned departments to work with coordination and keep close liaison to make the national event a grand success.
